March Mega Madness

March Literal Madness

The whole month of March was full of anticipation as some one the biggest teams in NCAA basketball about to go head to head in making it to the NCAA final tournament. Many of the well know teams of the NCAA like Duke and UNC have bull dozed their way to what is now down to the Final Four. Many college were expectant of these two organizations to make it to at least the top four as they do many years. But, there were many upsets and many surprises along the way.
The #1 seeded Gonzaga Bull Dogs were a dominant power house throughout the tournament until February 26th whenever they went against the Saint Mary Gaels. With only a few brackets alive after so long, many fans were hopeful that this would be a piece of cake. I mean think about it. The number #1 seed vs. the number #23 seed should be a piece of cake. Wrong. Saint Mary's point up a whopping 67 points to Gonzaga's 57 points. The Gaels had handed the Dogs their first loss since December 4, 2021.

2022 Cinderella Story

One of the biggest stories in sports right now is how St. Peter's has lasted as long as it did. With many people putting their picks for their brackets I assume that many of their brackets would have had St. Peter's losing in the first round. They proved and may have made a lot of people very upset. This teams journey is not like any other. They have had many close calls and their games may have not come easy  but they came out on top ready for the next game. The biggest surprise was the ability to be Purdue in the Sweet Sixteen. On March 25, the peacocks managed to upset the boilermakers. Coming down to the wire in the 4th quarter the game was neck and neck. Each team going back and forth scoring left and right. St. Peter's stayed strong and was able to close the game with a score of 67-64. This boosted the peacocks encouragement into the Elite Eight. St. Peter's have come to face their hardest match yet, the Duke Blue Devils. Many fans along with St. Peter's had high hopes for the team and were hoping that the peacocks would go out and upset the most dominant NCAA basketball. Unfortunately, this amazing story had an ending with Duke beating St. Peter 69-49. Overall, St. Peter came out fighting and interestingly enough, they are the only #15 seed ever to make it to the Elite 8 in NCAA basketball history. What a way to be remembered!

Coach K Continues to Thrive

In June of 2021 a huge headline aired that Coach K is announcing his retirement after 41 long years at Duke University. During his career at Duke he had acquired 26 trophies. 5 national championships, six gold medals, nine national players of the year, and six national defensive player of the year. Coach K has had a huge impact not just for Duke but for the NCAA basketball group as a whole. There are many coaches and players that look up to his success and inspire to be like he was. With this being his final year he was determined to make this a year to win one last championship. Unfortunately, his final regular season game turned to a loss to Virginia Tech with a score of 82-67. But as March Madness continues, Duke continues to march through the tournament allowing for Coach K's legendary career to continue. They are due to play there rival UNC in March Madness for the first time in history and is going to be their biggest challenge yet. Will Coach K continue to thrive to the Championship or will this be the end of one of the best if not the best coaching career in NCAA history.

March Madness has been a very crazy and eventful basketball tournament with only 0.1% of brackets perfect. Is your bracket still eligible? What surprised you the most about this tournament and who is excited to see the final 4 teams going at it for the chance of winning the crown?

UPDATE: There is not a single bracket that is perfect. These games have come as a major surprise to many people across the world making not a single bracket left standing. What a crazy year!
